The inhabitants of Tatooine, Dagobah and elsewhere along the Kessle Run may be celebrating Star Wars Day in their own systems, but the South Wales Scorpions and their fans will be in more terrestrial surroundings at Maesteg's Old Parish Ground this Sunday, seeking to play some Jedi mind tricks on their opponents Gateshead Thunder (kick-off 1pm).

The club are launching the first of their 'Super Summer Spectaculars' and have produced both an accompanying commemorative poster and video to promote the game based on the 'Star Wars' theme. Signed posters will be available to buy on a limited basis to supporters and to collect throughout the summer providing a lasting memento of the club’s first season at their new home of Maesteg RFC.

Partnerships Manager Stuart Hogg commented on the promotion: “It's known worldwide as Star Wars day and what a great way to tie in our first double header at the fantastic Old Parish venue.

“As well as the senior game kicking off at 1pm, as Mike Grady and the lads seek our first league win of this season, Jon Ellis' coaches the under 19 Academy who will be seeking to kick on from their big win against Gwendraeth Valley Raiders, and defeat Coventry Bears at 3.30pm.

“Coupled with this, we've got a great promotion deal on with Kingstone Press Cider where for £10, adults can get a ticket and three bottles of Kingstone Press as part of their Bank Holiday weekend enjoyment.”

Tickets for the game starting at just £1 for children and £8 for adults can be booked online via www.scorpionsrl.com by clicking the Tickets tab.
