Scorpions to host Cougars in pre-season friendly

By Ian Golden | 14/02/2014

South Wales Scorpions will play their one pre-season friendly against their feeder side Valley Cougars on Sunday 23rd February at Llandarcy Academy of Sport (kick-off 2.30pm).

The venue was chosen as Scorpions’ coach Mike Grady was insistent that the friendly match takes place and with a number of rugby games in South Wales being called off due to bad weather at this moment in time, Llandarcy’s 3G pitch ensures that the game will definitely go ahead.

Admission for the game is just £5 for all adults, £1 for all children aged 16 and under. All monies will go towards the hire of the facility.

Grady said: “We’re delighted to be facing Valley Cougars in what will be a tough test for us. The Cougars are playing at a higher level this year, going into Conference South and playing against sides from England, so this game will be good preparation for their season too. They will also be our official feeder side for 2014 so it’ll be a good chance for us to see the talent on offer in both clubs.”

South Wales Scorpions season tickets start at just £5 for juniors and go up to £70 for adults, and can be bought by going to www.scorpionsrl.com. Match tickets for their first league game of the season when they entertain Oldham Roughyeds on Sunday 2nd March, can also be bought.

Season tickets cannot be used at this pre-season friendly.
