Story in brief:The score line against Rochdale away last weekend reflected the run of the game. They had far more possession and field position then us and were more clinical...
They had been stung by losing their last three games and were at home for the first time in five weeks and they deserved their win. They out played us for the last 60 minutes.
We had prepared well and knew what threats they had to offer but we did not implement what we had spoken about and as the game got away from us went away from how we trained. We will re-group and know that another tough away trip to Oldham awaits. Lloyd White was our standout player and showed that his recent stint in Super League has assisted his development. The best thing about Rugby league is we now only have to wait seven days before we get another opportunity to make up for what in all honesty was a disappointing day at Spotland. All teams have days like last weekend when the bounce of the ball does not go your way. It is how you respond. We need a response.
We again picked up some knocks last weekend with outside backs Craig Richards and Ash Bateman being taken from the field injured and this meant we had a major re-shuffle of our team and again had an influence on our performance. We do welcome back this week Loz Wildbore and Christiaan Roets who have been in our top 3 performers all year. We also welcome back Liam Roach who has shown great potential in his time with us in the front row and knows the game well. We hope all three can give us a lift going into the Oldham game.
There is a real log jam outside the top three teams with the next six all within touching distance leading into the play offs. It is a real credit that we are in the mix for the play-offs and we need to work hard the next month and keep in the fight. I know one thing we have a group of guys who are very resilient and will give a good account of themselves. We are learning as a group. We are back on the bus this weekend and look forward to the experience of playing Oldham, an original Super League club, away in the north.
